Punakha Festival

7 Days

Overview

Experience Bhutan’s rich Buddhist heritage and vibrant cultural traditions during the Punakha Tshechu, one of the country’s most significant annual religious festivals.

Held at the magnificent Punakha Dzong, the festival brings together monks, local communities and visitors for sacred mask dances, traditional performances, Buddhist rituals and colourful celebrations. The festival honours Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), whose teachings played an important role in the spread of Tantric Buddhism across the Himalayas.

This 6-night, 7-day journey combines the Punakha Tshechu with the cultural highlights of Thimphu and Paro. Explore Bhutanese heritage, visit ancient temples and dzongs, experience traditional arts and local markets, and finish your journey with the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery.

The itinerary also includes Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Chimi Lhakhang, Rinpung Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang, creating a balanced experience of festival, culture, spirituality and Himalayan landscapes.
